The Bavarian Inn Restaurant first opened its doors in 1976 and has been serving up delicious food to local clientele and visitors ever since.  The owner, Chef Josef Wiewer, is a 36 year old veteran of the restaurant industry.  He saw the potential to expand the creativity, diversify the menu, and continue on with some classic Bavarian Inn favorites customers have grown to love and expect while adding a new twist.

The success of the Restaurant has been in maintaining its reputation for excellence and consistency that has mad the wonderful locals so loyal and its visitors into converts of fresh, European inspired, Alpine cuisine.  This reputation has come from a simple recipe of combining great food and outstanding service in an amazing setting that creates a dining experience like no other.

Divided into two rooms, our beautiful dining room can accommodate up to 60 people comfortably while our newly renovated Wine Bar seats 30 people.  For private functions, you can book the entire Restaurant or whichever one of the rooms best suits your occasion.  Throughout Spring, Summer, and Fall our guests have the added enjoyment of relaxing on our beautiful and spacious patio which was voted "Best Patio" by renowned food critic John Gilchrist.

Bragg Creek has seen many changes over the years and the Bavarian Inn Restaurant is a tribute to its history.  Consistent on quality and service, it is a great location for an exceptional dining experience.

  • Dinner is served Tuesday to Sunday starting at 5:00 pm.
  • Lunches are served Saturday and Sunday starting at 11:30 am.

I have lived in Bragg Creek for most of my life and grew up here. I began working at The Bavarian Inn when I was 14, as a dishwasher, when I was finishing my last year in Grade 8 at Banded Peak.

In 2001, I stared Grade 9 at Springbank Community High School, and shortly after became a sous chef at The Bavarian Inn as well. I stayed on full time at The Bavarian throughout High School, mostly as a sous chef cooking with Charlie, but switching to the front of house when I was 17 to serve with Pam. I graduated High School in 2005 and immediately began my teaching path by attending Mount Royal University September 2005. At Mount Royal I completed my Pre-Bachelor of Education and Pre-Bachelor of Arts/Major in English Language Arts degrees. I transferred from Mount Royal University to the University of Lethbridge after 2 years at Mount Royal in September 2007.

I lived in Lethbridge for the 3 years I attended the University of Lethbridge, the weekends filled with serving at The Bavarian Inn and tutoring some children as well. And finally graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts (major in English Lit) degrees.

I decided to move back to Bragg Creek, as I have begun tutoring more children, and took up a full time position at The Bavarian Inn.

Currently, I reside in Bragg Creek, and have just recently returned from a trip to Thailand. I am still at The Bavarian Inn, working for the lovely new owners Pamela and Josef, and tutoring full time with hopes of pursuing Teaching or expanding my tutoring numbers in September/October 2012.
